Police in Kamengo have in custody an errant driver of Motor Vehicle reg number UAX 542N Toyota Harrier who knocked two traffic police officers killing one on the spot.
According to ASP Tumushabe Lydia PRO Katonga Region, the accident took place on Wednesday morning at around 0600/c at Kampiringisa Check point when the driver, one Tuhimbise Charles M/A 60yrs old R/O Makindye, coming from Kampala heading Masaka side lost control and rammed into the cops.
According to ASP Tumushabe Lydia PRO Katonga Region, Tumuhimbise was driving at a high speed and on reaching the Checkpoint lost control, overturned and knocked two (2) police officers on duty who were on the opposite side.
“On a sad note, No. 67090 PC KHAKOSI ALEX M/A 31 yrs old traffic officer attached to Kamengo Pol/ Station died on spot while No.59598 PC Hasahya Elias M/A attached to FFU Kamengo taken to Mpigi Health Center iv” Tumushabe says.
Body of the deceased has been conveyed to Mulago City mortuary for post mortem while the Motor vehicle was towed to Kamengo parking yard and the Suspect is in custody.
