Uganda police force has released a traffic roadmap to be followed by mourners during the burial ceremony of Kampala Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, set for tomorrow at Sacred Heart Cathedral Lubaga.
During a joint press conference with the Catholic Church at Central Police station Kampala, Luke Owoyesigyire the deputy police spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan said all mourners are expected to show up wearing masks. The ceremony will start at 8:00am.
“Given the COVID-19 pandemic that is still affecting the country and the world, we urge the invited guests to follow Ministry of Health guidelines to control the spread of Coronavirus and we are hoping that all of them will come wearing face masks” Owoyesigyire noted.
He warned that whoever shows up without a facemask will be turned away or forced to buy those at the entrance. Police is also working with the Church to provide sanitizers for everyone who will be accessing the Church premises.
“We shall have three checkpoints and all guests will be checked as the access the premises. The faithful are urged to come with only items that are not a danger to others. Police will deploy both covert and overt personnel, there will be foot patrollers and health personnel with enough ambulances” Owoyesigyire noted.
