The opposition Forum for Democratic Party, FDC has closed its party headquarters and all offices across the country due to the surging COVID-19 cases in the country.
Uganda is currently facing the 2nd wave of the pandemic that has turned out more deadly than the 1st wave.
On Monday June 14th 2021 alone, 49 deaths were registered. Now, the FDC party leadership says they are moving all activities online, to avoid crowds at the offices, that would likely cause spread of the disease.
“In view of the current Covid -19 situation, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) offices across the country, have been temporarily closed till further notice and all staff are working from home” the party says.
However, the weekly Media briefing every Monday at 11am at the party headquarters will remain operational while observing the SOPs.
“We encourage all our membership to observe the World Health Organizations' SOPs and stay safe. One Uganda one people” they say.
The move comes after their National Resistance Movement closed their offices too, early this week.
