Police in Rukiga are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire outbreak at St. Aloysius Girl's Secondary School in Kitanga, Rukiga district school.
The fire destroyed properties worth millions of shillings in one of the dormitories.
The incident was reported by Sr. Busingye Florence the school's head teacher. She told officers that on 6/7/2022, at about 2040hrs, while students were for their night preps, the head teacher heard students who were reading from the tent near the affected senior two dormitory making an alarm but the fire.
She notified the Dpc Rukiga Sp Ismat who dispatched two patrol vehicles to respond to the scene as and the fire brigade for Kigezi region.
The local community also joined in the rescue and soon as the fire team from the region arrived, it was put out.
The cause of the fire is not yet established but fortunately, no death or injury was realized.
Elly Maate the Kigezi regional spokesperson says the scene has been preserved as inquiries continue.
