The Deputy Inspector General of Police Major General Geoffrey Katsigazi Tumusiime has called for speedy repairs of faulty police vehicles to boost response interventions against the recent wave of criminality which involves attacks on security installation and personnel.
in addition to heightened deployment at all security installations and adoption of an onslaught response to attackers, Maj Gen. Katsigazi observed that there is a need to equip the personnel with the capacity to instantly pursue and apprehend criminals as soon as they strike.
The DIGP issued the directive on Thursday while leading a team of the different heads of Police departments, to assess the security situation in Masaka sub-region in the wake of the recent attacks by unknown groups.
By the time of the directive, it was observed that police stations across the country have several motor vehicles grounded while others are in poor mechanical condition due to a lack of repairs and key spare parts.
He instructed the Police Engineering Mechanical Department to begin picking up all the faulty motor vehicles scattered in the different parts of the country, to have them immediately repaired for eventual redeployment such that they help in reinforce the police’s response capacities to criminality.
Major General Katsigazi is optimistic that this will provide the required funds given the security challenges the country is facing at the moment.
