On July 30, 2024, at around 0800 hrs, an intelligence-led operation was conducted at Kiblocker in Nansana East IIA, Nansana East Ward, Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District. The operation was prompted by public concerns and previous attacks by panga-wielding individuals on civilians in Nabweru South II cell.
During the operation, police arrested 11 suspects, including 9 men and 2 women.
The suspects were identified as follows:
- Ssembatya Allan, 28, plumber, resident of Entebbe
- Madondo Latif, 27, resident of Nabweru
- Kawoya Arnold, 21, resident of Bump Ganda
- Nkurunziza Rugamba, 26, resident of Nansana East IIA
- Kaziba Shakur, 17, resident of Nansana East IIA
- Amanya Alili, 24, bodaboda rider (UDZ 039A), resident of Kyewamala
- Kabandana Leonard, 39, resident of Nansana East IIA
- Kakooza Rayan, 19, resident of Kayunga, Wakiso
- Akizimana Emmanuel, resident of Nansana West IIA
- Kabugo Evelyn, 32, shopkeeper, resident of Nansana East IIA
- Namukasa Shamira, 31, resident of Nansana East IIA
A search was conducted at the premises of Abed Fauzia, a 62-year-old farmer and resident of Namayumba, in the room of her daughter, Namukasa Shamira. The search yielded the following exhibits:
- 06 televisions of various sizes (63 inches, 53 inches, 43 inches, and three 32 inches)
- 02 pangas
- 03 pairs of pliers
- Multiple screwdrivers
- A sack of opium
- Hook metallic wire wrapped with kavera
- Other exhibits
The victims of a recent robbery in Nabweru South II identified the recovered televisions, linking the suspects to the crime.
The suspects will be arraigned before court once the investigations are completed.
