Deputy Kampala Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura’s brother, Tugume Albert Cook, was fatally shot during an aggravated robbery at his mobile money shop in Ntinda on Thursday evening.
The incident occurred around 8 PM, when armed robbers stormed the shop on Central Road near Fraine Supermarket. In the ensuing chaos, Tugume was abducted at gunpoint and later shot dead by the assailants.
Police responded to the scene and confirmed the tragic news. While investigations are ongoing, details about the stolen items remain unclear.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police East Region is investigating a tragic robbery that occurred on the evening of November 21, 2024, at around 7:00 PM in Kiwatule Central Zone, Nakawa Division, Kampala City.
It is alleged that Mr. Tugume Albert, 34, a mobile money operator, was attacked while closing his shop by an assailant attempting to rob him. During the scuffle, a boda boda rider, Mr. Sabiti Barnabas, 30, intervened but was shot by another armed accomplice.
Mr. Tugume tried to escape but was pursued and fatally shot by the suspects, who fled with a bag believed to contain an unspecified amount of cash.
Police arrived promptly at the scene, recovering critical evidence to aid in the investigation. A vehicle (registration UBH 045H) was also damaged by stray bullets. Mr. Barnabas was rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital with gunshot injuries but sadly passed away.
Mr. Tugume's body was transported to the City Mortuary at Mulago for a postmortem examination.
