Famous for her role played in the political atmosphere of Uganda and East Africa at large, Ms. Beatrice Kiraso has been chosen as the Ugandan candidate for the seat of Executive Secretary of the International Conference on Great lakes Region (ICGLR).
Kiraso’s candidature was announced by Amb. James Mugume, the permanent secretary Ministry of foreign Affairs during a press conference this afternoon. The new head of ICGLR will be appointed in the forthcoming summit slated for March by the heads of state.
“Uganda as a founding member of the ICGLR has been committed to the implementation of the pact, protocols and programs.” Says Amb. Mugume
Ms. Kiraso on the other hand is an accomplished public servant who previously served as an elected legislator in the parliament of Uganda, deputy Secretary General of the East African Community (EAC) and as a high-level official in the United Nations.
She is a firm promoter of integration and a believer in unity of purpose and collective action to address common challenges.
