The last few weeks have been very busy for Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Andrew Felix Kaweesi, with several people wondering why he was doing a commander’s job, yet he was a mere Human resource director of the Uganda police.
Well, the man, so friendly to the camera is back in police operations and this time as the Kampala Metropolitan Zonal Commander, just a year after being transferred to the newly created Directorate of human Resource Development.
Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) is headed by AIGP Abas Byakagaba but also supervised by the Director Operations Haruna Isabirye.
A source from the office of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kale Kayihura says Kaweesi had been seconded for the additional deployment before the elections, meaning he will carry out the two tasks at ago. Kaweesi held the role of KMP Commander between 2011 and 2013.
Deputy Police mouthpiece Polly Namaye confirmed Kaweesi's new assignment saying it is in that capacity that he has been working lately. Last week, Kaweesi was manning the action packed movie at opposition leader Kizza Besigye's home, where he briefly blocked ambassadors who had gone to meet Besigye.
