Former spy master Gen. David Sejusa, alias Tinyefuza has this afternoon been granted Bail by the High Court.
His freedom comes barely hours after the IGP; Gen. Kale Kayihura announced the withdrawal of police from FDC leader Dr. Besigye’s home.
Sejjusa had earlier been denied Bail by the Court Martial, prompting him to run to the High Court, where he wanted clarity on whether he is still a serving Army officer or not.
The renegade general presented two sureties the Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, and Dr. Deo Kizito Lukyamuzi of Case Clinic.
High Court judge, Justice Wilson Masalu Museni granted Sejusa Bail on argument that he is of an advanced age.
He was represented by his lawyers Laudislaus Rwakafuzi, David Mushabe, Yunus Kasirivu, and his son Kenneth Munungu.
The General Court Martial had earlier denied him Bail, claiming his two sureties were not serving army officers, as stipulated in the laws governing the UPDF.
Sejusa was sent Luzira by the General Court Martial chaired by Maj. Gen. Levi Karuhanga in February this year after he was accused of engaging in partisan politics contrary to the UPDF laws.
