Police is heavily deployed in the districts of Kagadi and Kibale where FDC party has fronted candidates in the upcoming elections.
Besigye flanked by Hon. Mubarak Munyagwa, Ingrid Turinawe, Hon. Nathan Nandala Mafabi kicked off campaigns on Sunday in the areas of Karuguuza, Nyamarunda, Kyaterekera, Mpeefu, Muhorro, and Kagadi Freedom Tree in Kagadi district.
During the campaigns yesterday, Besigye told FDC supporters that their party won the February 18th presidential election, though Kiggundu, the EC chairperson announced NRM as the winners.
According to the party spokesperson Ssemujju Nganda, Besigye has today traversed areas of Ruteete, Siyoni Catholic church pilgrimage, Rugashaari trading center, Burora T/C, Mabaale T/C, and the final rally is at Nnyakairu in Kibaale district.
Nganda explains that the party has fielded three candidates in the districts of Kagadi and Kibale. These include; “Kunihira Proscovia, for Woamn MP Candidate Kibale district, Margaret Nazziwa, woman MP candidate Kagadi district, and Byahagire Peter, LC V chairperson Kagadi.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Regional Police Publicist explains that FDC party leaders and Dr. Besigye were granted permission to campaign in these areas and so far there hasn’t been any disturbances.
