The leader of the National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED), Joseph Kabuleta, has been arrested by armed men in a black drone.

It is alleged that the opposition party leader was on Monday afternoon netted by five plain-clothed security operatives and reportedly driven to the Criminal Investigation Directorate(CID).

According to eyewitness accounts, Kabuleta was arrested at about 1:00 pm from his offices in Bugolobi, Nakawa Division in Kampala, shortly after holding his weekly press briefing.

Two officers accessed the offices unannounced through the main gate and grabbed Kabuleta into the drone, before driving off at a breakneck speed.

Howwe is yet to receive official communication from security forces over Kabuleta's arrest or charges slapped on him, however, some members that his office allege that he is in custody at the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) in Kibuli.

This arrest comes weeks after Kabuleta was summoned by police to record a statement on sectarianism and tribal remarks he made.

Commissioner of Police, Chelimo Beeta said Kabuleta  May 30, 2022, published material that promoted sectarianism, nepotism, parochialism, and tribalism hence in-sighting the public.

Kabuleta dismissed accusations against him without responding to the summons.
