South African duo Distruction Boyz turned up the temperature at the Blankets and Wine event on Sunday at Cricket Oval, Lugogo.
The party mood set in as early as 1pm when Kampala’s partiers started strolling into the ground, in anticipation of a day of pure joy, thanks to an impressive line-up of artistes which included the Distruction Boyz, Ykee Benda and Afrigo Band’s Joanita Kawalya.
Then, the city’s fashion-forward slayers were out in large numbers, turning heads in their stylish outfits, adding glam to event as they enjoyed live performances by Racheal K, Lady Snake, Tina Ford, and Tracey Noella.
The day’s biggest local artistes; Ykee Benda and Joanita Kawalya then took things a notch higher, setting the stage for the main act, the Distruction Boyz, who literally had the Oval exploding in merriment as they delivered hit after hit of their Gqom dance music.
Their hits, "Omunye", "The Conductor" and "Madness" echoed throughout the Oval, the approving shrills of delighted fans served as proof that they were getting their money’s worth and enjoying their Tusker Malt.
For most, midnight, which is the time the show closed, seemed to have come too soon.
This was one of the many editions of the Tusker Malt Blankets and Wine, a platform for fun-loving Ugandans that showcases and supports talented artistes.
