Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo has no trophy to show for his goal-laden 2014/2015 Season but still edged Barcelona rival, Lionel Messi to clinch the third spot on the new Forbes list of richest sportsmen and women.

With Ronaldo earning a total of $79.6m in the last 12 months, he is very well ahead of his arch rival, Messi who raked in $73.8m for the same period. The rivals appeared as third and fourth on the 2015 issue of Forbes ‘World’s Highest-Paid Athletes’
