A dark cloud has covered Buvuma after a water accident in which 8 people were travelling in a motor boat claimed four (04) lives, while four others survived.

Lameck Kigozi the Ssezibwa regional spokesperson, identifies the deceased as Malaga Ivan aged 27yrs from kidera town council-Buyende district, Tenywa Noah aged 24yrs resident of kitovu village Imaniro Sub County, Mayuge district, Waiswa Matia aged 21yrs same address with Tenywa as they are brothers, and a one Peter who’s others particulars are yet to be got.

The survivors are: Othieno Ojame aged 30yrs, Awori Annet 24yrs, Athieno Rosemary 16yrs and Onyango Joseph 10 months all residents of Omollo village, Buwooya subcounty in Buvuma District.

Kigozi tells us that the victims were taking merchandize to a market in Katuba village Buwooya sub county Buvuma district.

“The presumed cause of the accident is water tide which is suspected to have hit this boat causing it to capsize, however investigations are ongoing to find the real cause” Lameck told this website.

He says the marine were called in at around 9am in the morning when a boat hailing from nakalanga village Mayuge district heading to Katuba in Buwooya capsized. He explains that the police worked alongside fishermen to retrieve the bodies and find the survivors.

He explains that of the four dead bodies, only three have been found and one is still missing.

The survivors were rushed to muwooya health centre three, while the search for the other dead body continues.
