In what took many by surprise, NTV today put hand to a deal that saw it buying out NBS TV for a whopping 2 billion shillings. The agreement of sale was signed by NTV Managing Director Agnes Konde and Linius Gitai on behalf of NTV while Kin Kariisa signed for NBS TV.
Sources also indicate that in the next few months, NBS TV will be rebranding to QTV which will be a Luganda based TV aimed at dealing with the huge competition from Bukedde TV. Sources overheard Konde saying that it’s time for QTV aka NBS TV to claim the Luganda market share that Bukedde leads.
In other interesting news, we can reveal that NTV is now sourcing for the best of the best of Luganda TV Presenters while coming up with programs to engage the public. However, many NBS TV presenters will be facing the axe as restructuring takes place at the station which will now move from Media Plaza to the NTV offices.
