Comical Member of Parliament for Kawempe North, Muhammad Segirinya, has spent the better part of this term in prison and hospital battling a strange illness.
Segirinya has since announced his intention to run again in the upcoming elections in 2026. The MP explained that he hasn't delivered to his expectations because the government frustrated his efforts when he was arrested.
He now says that the residents of Kawempe North have asked him to come back and serve them for another term, and he will be running in 2026.
"For all of this term, I have been frustrated by the government. I was beaten, imprisoned, and didn't deliver to my expectations. My voters have asked me to come back and represent them in the next term, and I will run in the 2026 elections," he partly said in an interview with a local YouTuber.
Segirinya, however, says he will not seek re-election after serving one more term.
"I am coming for one more term, and I will not seek re-election after serving those two terms," he said.
Muhammad Segirinya represents Kawempe North in the August House. He won on the National Unity Platform ticket.
