Musician Ibrahim Mayanja, popularly known as Big Eye, has publicly declared his aspiration to contest for a parliamentary seat in the 2026 elections.

The singer made the announcement on his social media, addressing his fans and followers.

A supporter of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Big Eye explained that his decision is inspired by the Party President, Robert Kyagulanyi, who has long encouraged members to take up leadership roles.

"Dear fellow citizens,
I’m tired of comments saying, ‘Big Eye, leave politics and focus on music.’ Let me set the record straight: I am deeply committed to the politics of my country, and I will never step away from it. Politics determines the future of every Ugandan.

In fact, I’m seriously considering running for a parliamentary seat in the 2026-2031 term as our President, H.E. Robert Kyagulanyi, has encouraged us to do. This will allow me to contribute more actively and serve my country better," he wrote.

Big Eye emphasized that his commitment to serving Uganda outweighs his music career.

"First, I am above 18 years old. Second, if not us, then who? Music is my business, but my commitment to my country is my priority," he added.

The singer, however, did not specify which constituency he intends to contest.
