Alex Luwemba, also known as Muhammad, has addressed the public following his absence at the NUP headquarters when the party endorsed Elias Nalukoola for the Kawempe North MP position.
Luwemba explained that he was never invited by the party and only learned about it through social media.
Luwemba revealed that he was far away in Matuga, attending to his farm, and was surprised by the news of the party's endorsement of Nalukoola without his knowledge.
"I was just surprised by the news, and no one called me about the release of the election committee's results. I was never invited and was caught by surprise while in Matuga attending to my farm. I arrived after the endorsement was already done," he explained in an interview with a local television station.
Luwemba revealed that he was never satisfied with the results and is still in consultation with various people in the constituency. He will announce his next steps in a few days.
Earlier reports indicated that he will be contesting for the position of Kawempe North MP independently, with sponsorship from Mathias Mpunga and the Democratic Alliance.
