The Ramadan period kicked off earlier this month and will be running until Eid.
Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, the President of the National Unity Platform, has since revealed he is fasting with the Muslim faithful.
"In future when I’m asked to name one of the most satisfying things I ever did, I will say I fasted with my Muslim brothers and sisters in Ramadan," he wrote on his social media.
While addressing voters in Kawempe on Monday evening, Bobi Wine revealed he is fasting, drawing inspiration from political prisoner Yasin Sekitoleko, also known as Machete.
He explained that Machete is currently on hunger strike, surviving only on drinking water because he wants his file to be transferred to a civil court following the Supreme Court ruling on January 31st of this year.
"I am fasting with Muslims. I have received the inspiration to do so from political prisoners like Yasin Sekitoleko, also known as Machete, who is currently on hunger strike. We fast for them and continue asking Allah to deliver them from the injustices they are going through," he revealed.
Bobi Wine adds that he will continue fasting until the end of Ramadan.
