In awake of Tubonga Naawe dinner in which artists went kneeling and begging for money from President Museveni, Singer Lutaaya seems not amused by the act.
Yesterday, Lutaaya scoffed at fellow artists calling them money hungry individuals who can’t do anything for charity. His remarks come after big artists shunned fellow musician’s call to fundraise money for kidney surgery in India.
FYI: Veteran Kadongo Kamu singer Mamuli Katumba needs 12,000USD (sh44.4m) for an urgent kidney transplant in India, his promoter, Tony Ssempijja has been pledging for months now. Yesterday, there was an organized charity walk from the National Theatre to Gaba Beach to raise Money. But no big artist turned up.
Lutaaya was enraged by the failure of his colleagues to show solidarity and said it is high time artistes acted more responsibly.
"I am not quite shocked because most Uganda artistes are money-hungry and if they are not going to get money somewhere, they cannot turn up; many attend burials because they know people will be excited to see them and praise them.
This must change and we should act more responsibly and mature because Mamuli is our own," Lutaaya fumed.
What do you think about artists not showing solidarity to their fellow artists?
