Former Kampala central Police station commandant Aaron Baguma could soon walk free, if the Director Public Prosecution, DPP Mike Chibita is to grant the plea of the late Donah Katusabe’s family to move him from the charge sheet as suspect.
In a letter written to the DPP by Katusabe’s family members led by Alex Masereka, the group wants Baguma treated as a witness to the murder, not a suspect as he is looked at now.
Baguma appeared before Grade One Magistrate Joan Acio, at Buganda Road Court, in the company of his lawyer Abraham Mpumwiire on Tuesday and was remanded to Kigo prison.
It's alleged that having gone to the scene of crime,
Baguma found Katusabe being beaten and just asked her to pay off the debt instead of saving her from the irate mob led by Muhammed Ssebuwufu, the proprietor of Pine Car bond.
The family bases on this to look at him as a witness in the murder, but claim to know who the real murderer is, and they want Baguma to pin him before Court.
