Bonny Odongo, a Lira-based Vision Group journalist arrested for allegedly being in possession of an illegal firearm, has told police, it was not his.

Odongo was this week arrested after pictures of him posing with a pistol made rounds on different social media platforms. However, upon arrest, he told police it was photoshop.

But on Thursday, police in Lira picked Joan Emer, a waitress at Bistro Bar in Lira town for posing with the same gun.

According to David Mudong, the North Kyoga Regional police spokesperson, during their investigation, police found that on the same day as Odongo, Joan Emer took several pictures with the same gun.

The duo later told police that they got the gun from a friend with whom they were drinking just to pose with in a picture, out of excitement, not knowing it's illegal.

The Lira District Police commander, Joel Tubanone, says police has mounted a man hunt for the suspected owner of the gun, a businessman who is believed to be in hiding.
