A decomposing body of a man believed to be in his 30s has been retrieved from Lake Albert waters by the Marine Police officers attached to Butiaba landing site in Butiaba Sub County in Buliisa district.

According to Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police spokesperson, the body was cited by fishermen floating on the lake near Butiaba landing site around 5:30pm on Monday.

He adds that this morning, the fishermen alerted police, which retrieved the body from the lake and handed it to Buliisa Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

Hakiza says they are yet to establish the identity of the deceased since he is a nonresident but calls on the fishing community with a missing relative to go and identify the body.
