The Police in Zombo district have in custody three people over the death of a 60-year-old widow.

Josephine Angucia, the West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson identified the suspects as Osung Kisa, Oyungrwoth Paulina and Wanican Joyce, all residents of Okemu village Abanga Sub County Zombo district.

The group was allegedly part of the mob that lynched Mary Osuker Mary on Monday evening after accusing her of killing her four-year-old grandson using sorcery.

Angucia says the angry residents descended on the widow when her grandson started making uncoordinated statements, developed high fever and wounds on his left leg.

Jennifer Anican the boy’s mother, says he was taken to Zeu health Center III, where medics said he was normal, which raised suspicion that he could be a victim of witchcraft.

The LC3 chairperson Abanga Sub County Sunday Ongei says they received numerous reports implicating the deceased for sorcery, and that they had earlier in the morning fought off a group of youth who attempted to torch the deceased’s house.

The suspects are being held at Zombo Central Police
