One gun has been stolen after unknown assailants raided Kaaka Spare World shop in Hoima Oil city and made off with a firearm belonging to a private security guard. The incident happened around 2 am on Monday morning.
According to Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police spokesperson, the private guard whose firearm was stolen is Eunice Kobusinge 28 an employee of Uganda Securiko limited.
The guard is being detained at Hoima city central police station. Hakiza says the thugs allegedly took off with an AK 47 riffle registration number 303-65793pol107928 with 2 rounds of ammunition.
The Director of Kaaka Spare world shop identified as Patel Sheilesh says that he got to know about the incident when he reported for work.
Shaban Baguma the manager of Uganda Securiko limited, says that they have reported the matter to the police and investigations have commenced.
Hakiza added that a team from the flying squad has been dispatched to hunt for the thugs.
He noted that preliminary investigations indicate that the guard was asleep on duty at the time the thugs raided the area.
