The former Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Moyo, Nebbi, and Nakapiripirit Bob William Labeja has been arrested by the Police in Kitgum district over the death of his wife Jackie Abalo.
Labeja is accused of assaulting his 38-year-old wife following a domestic brawl leading to her death on Tuesday.
Information obtained from Robinah Akullu the mother of the deceased says that the suspect beat up his wife severely in their marital home in Kitgum district on Sunday.
The victim then fled to their home in the Pader district for refuge while complaining of severe body pain. She was reportedly rushed to Bregmah Medical Centre for treatment from where she passed away on Tuesday.
The victim`s mother added that the couple had a long history of domestic violence which was perpetrated by Labeja. Following the death, the mother of the deceased reported a case of murder at Kitgum CPS VIDE CRB 130/2023.
David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson says that Labeja was arrested by the Police on Tuesday and is being held at Kitgum CPS on allegations of murder originating from aggravated domestic violence vide CRB 130/2023. He said investigations are still ongoing.
Police have further urged disputing couples to embrace dialogue and seek assistance within the provision of the law.
