A new survey conducted in January 2016 and released by Major Media market research firm has shown that NBS TV is now the most watched television station in Kampala.
A television viewership survey conducted in greater Kampala Metropolitan area also, indicates that NBS TV is now on top of NTV Uganda and Bukedde TV which have been giving it bloody nose.
The research conducted by Major Media Research sampled about 500 viewers randomly in the five divisions of Kampala.
The sampled viewers were given questionnaires which they answered accordingly.
According to the survey, on the question of awareness i.e the television station people think of first; the Vision Group owned Bukedde TV topped the list with 35 percent followed by NBS TV with 30 percent, then NTV trailed respectfully with 20 percent, ABS TV 15 percent and others at 5 percent.
On the question of the watched TV in the last seven days, NBS topped list with 40 percent followed by Bukedde with 30 percent NTV at 20 percent, ABS TV 10 percent and others at 5 percent.
On the most watched TV, Bukedde was in the lead followed by NBS, then NTV, ABS TV, Delta TV and others.
On the preferred TV in Kampala, NTV took the lead followed by NBS, Bukedde, ABS TV and others.
On the TV viewers prefer when it comes to watching news, NBS topped the list followed by NTV, Bukedde, WBS, then came the government owned UBC TV and others.
On the TV most watched for sports, NBS was once more on the top followed by NTV, Bukedde, WBS, Super Sport and others.
On the TV watched for entertainment, NBS maintained the lead followed by Bukedde, NTV and another Vision owned Urban TV.
On the TV with best live broadcast, viewers prefer NBS followed by NTV, Bukedde, UBC and others.
Lastly, on the TV doing politics best, NBS was in the driving seat followed by NTV, Bukedde, WBS and others.
However overall, Kamwokya based NBS TV station performed better that its competitors in terms of viewership in greater Kampala Metropolitan area.
