Popular Congolese musician Koffi Olomide was on Saturday morning deported to Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) after assaulting his female dancer while in Kenya. The artiste was reportedly taken back to Kinshasa together with his three colleagues in a Kenya Airways Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that left the Nairobi at exactly 11.15am
On Friday morning, Mr Olomide also known as Le Grand Mopao landed at Jomo Kenyatta International airport, while there he was caught on camera kicking his female dancer.
The video clip went viral on social media especially twitter with Kenyans asking the government to respond to this kind of gender brutality.
The Rhumba star was arrested just after his interview on Citizen Television with Kenya police that had besieged the premises and transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International airport police cells.
However, Olamide's lawyer George Wajackoyah argued that his client was not carried with his esteemed respect by police. "Whoever gave the orders was malicious and acted contrary to the constitution. You cannot deport a person without giving them a chance to respond, the right procedure was not followed in deporting Koffi Olomide," the lawyer added.
Koffi Olamidde's whose show was to go down at Bomas of Kenya Main Hall was cancelled.
