The Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) has summoned rappers Gravity Omutujju and Lil Pazzo to address concerns over vulgar content in their music.
In a letter dated December 3, UNCC Vice Chairperson Phina Mugerwa, also known as Masanyalaze, asked the two artists to appear before the board today.
The artists will discuss songs such as Okwepicha, Enyama, Doozi, and Omunio by Gravity Omutujju, as well as Enkudi and Ensujju by Lil Pazzo. The UNCC claims these songs do not align with Uganda’s cultural values and norms.
"As part of our mandate to preserve, promote, and popularize art and culture locally and internationally, we invite you to a dialogue about your content. These songs challenge our cultural identity and threaten the sustainability of the creative sector for future generations," the letter reads.
The UNCC is committed to safeguarding Uganda’s culture through the promotion of responsible artistic expression.
