The very public beef between rapper Lil Wayne and former mentor Birdman is heating up, as cameras caught the Cash Money Records executive appear to toss a drink in Lil Wayne's direction at a popular Miami Beach nightclub Sunday night.
As reported by TMZ, Lil Wayne, birth name Dwayne Carter Jr., was on the mic at Club LIV Sunday night performing his song, "Coco" -- essentially a diss track against Birdman and Cash Money -- when someone hurled a drink onstage from the VIP booth. Sources tell TMZ that Birdman was the one who tossed the drink.
In the video obtained from TMZ, it appears people in the crowd are also throwing cups of liquor squarely in the direction of Birdman. It also appears that many clubgoers also got soaked during the melee.
Tension has brewed between the once father-son-type duo for years. Lil Wayne hasn't been shy about his desire to leave Cash Money records, most notably telling fans last December that his much anticipated "Tha Carter V" album was delayed because Birdman and Cash Money refused to release it. Lil Wayne famously Tweeted to fans that he was a "prisoner and so is my creativity," going on to say "I want off this label and nothing to do with these people."
Earlier this year, Lil Wayne sued Cash Money and Birdman for $51 million over the album.
Bryan "Birdman" Williams, along with Ronald "Slim" Williams, signed Lil Wayne to their burgeoning record label in the early 90's when he was just a teen.
