Police and UPDF marine have camped in Karuma to search and retrieve bodies of three men who were travelling in a Tata Lorry Reg.No. UAW 356C that plunged into River Nile on Friday evening.

Police and UPDF marine have camped in Karuma to search and retrieve bodies of three men who were travelling in a Tata Lorry Reg.No. UAW 356C that plunged into River Nile on Friday evening.

According to the police spokesperson, AIGP Asan Kasingye, the three men, Baraza Nelson, 45, the Lorry driver, a one Arafat a turn boy and 50 year Abunya, owner of the merchandize, were travelling in the ill fated lorry from Paidha to Hoima.

The lorry which was carrying dried cassava failed to brake and eventually plunged into the river. According to Kasingye, the truck and its occupants are still deep in the water.

“The strong current could not allow our marine divers top search for the bodies. However, they are on the scene, trying everything possible to retrieve the bodies and the wreckage.
