Seven of the 14 suspects under investigation for the murder of former Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Andrew Felix Kaweesi have applied for bail.
The 7 suspects are; Sheikh Musa Ntende, Umar Maganda, Hassan Tumusiime, Ibrahim Kissa, Hamid Magambo, Abdul-Majid Ojerere and Ahmada Shaban Ssenfuka.
The seven have applied for bail before Nakawa Grade One Magistrate Noah Ssajjabi. They were represented by lawyers Ladislaus Rwakafuuzi and Hassan Bilal.
Each of these produced three sureties in court to get temporary freedom. The magistrate said he would give his ruling on November 7. Last week, their eight co-accused were sent to the High Court to stand trial.
These are Abdul-Rashid Mbaziira alias Muhammed Buyondo, Aramanzani Noordin Higenyi alias Taata Abdullazack, Yusuf Mugerwa alias Wilson, Bruhan Balyejusa alias Jimmy Masiga Ogutu, Joshua Magezi Kyambadde alias Abdu Rahman, Jibril Kalyango alias Abu Aisha, Yusuf Siraje Nyanzi alias Jimmy Ssentamu and Shafik Kasujja.
The suspects are charged with terrorism, aggravated robbery and complicity in the murder of Kaweesi, his body guard Kenneth Erau and driver Geoffrey Mambewa, on the morning of March, 17, 2017, in the city suburbs of Kulambiro, Nakawa division, metres away from Kaweesi’s residence.
