The internet is about to break with several Ugandans sarcastically congratulating former police spokesperson Asan Kasingye on being fired.
Kasingye who replaced the late Andrew Felix Kaweesi has consequently been replaced by his junior, and Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson Emilian Kayima.
In a letter from IGP, Gen. Kale Kayihura to all police units, Kasingye has this morning been relieved of the duty of the police spokesperson which he has occupied since March, 2017.
A statement to all units indicates that Kasingye will now concentrate on the Commissariat office.
The message attributed to the Inspector General of Police indicates that the changes are aimed at delinking the office of the Police Spokesperson from the political commissariate.
Kasingye confirmed the move in a tweet “I will be taking leave of spokesman function to concentrate on commissariat work.”
