Members of the 10th parliament are currently sitting to make final submissions and later vote on the controversial amendment of Article 102 b, seeking to remove presidential age limit.
The constitution currently caps the age at 35-75. On Tuesday, a number of legislators gave their submissions, while others are presenting them today.
Today, Parliament will require 290 MPs voting in support of the proposed amendment by roll call and tally at both second and third reading of the Bill for it to pass.
Supporters of the Bill (NRM) need two thirds of the members (288) to pass the second stage and the opposers need 105 members to block it.
The house is currently calm, and members are debating peacefully, contrary to Tuesday’s debate when they were booed of the microphone like they were not making any points.
Voting is expected to be in the open this afternoon, with members voting a yay (for amendment) or nay for opposing legislators.
