A case in which six Members of Parliament dragged Rebecca Kadaga the house Speaker to High Court for suspending them has been referred to the Constitutional Court for interpretation
We, on December 18 reported how Speaker Kadaga suspended the legislators Ibrahim Semujju Nganda, Jonathan Edur, Mubarak Munyagwa, Allan Sewanyana, Gerald Karuhanga and Anthony Akol for seven sittings shortly after the Minority and Majority reports on presidential Age Limit removal were tabled on the floor of parliament for debate.
Now, the matter that was supposed to be for hearing today hasn't been heard but instead ruled about by the Deputy Registrar of High Court Joy Kabagye on behalf of Justice Margret Oumo Oguli who noted that the case was not in the jurisdiction of the said court but instead referred the six applicants to the Constitutional Court for interpretation.
Their lawyer, Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, is not satisfied with the way the case has been handled because he expected the hearing not a ruling.
The leader of opposition in parliament, Winifred Kiiza, noted that they are not about to give up on the matter but will instead go to where they have been directed.
