Former Kampala Central Police Division Police Commander Aaron Baguma yet to write to the Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura seeking re-deployment after the director public prosecution dropped murder charges against him.

This is in line with public service standing orders, once a government employee is cleared of criminal charges or they are dropped, he/she writes to the Public Service Commission and is reinstated.

Baguma’s woes started in 2016 when he was interdicted for his alleged involvement in the murder of business woman Donnah Katusabe at Pine car bond in Kampala.

It is alleged that at some point, Baguma visited the bond and found Katusabe being tortured, but did nothing to help. She would later pass on.

A troubled Baguma was then arrested and jointly charged with eight others, including the proprietor of Pine Car Bond Muhammed Ssebuwufu where the deceased was beaten to death.

But last week, Katusabe’s family was left in shock when Mike Chibita, the DPP dropped all murder charges against Baguma and set him free.

This automatically means that the troubled officer can go back to work, and demand all his salary arrears.  The public service Standing Order indicates that; "A public officer interdicted shall receive such salary not being less than half of his/her basic salary,  subject to a refund of the other half,  in case the Interdiction is lifted and the charges dropped
