Road users in Kampala, especially those around Namugongo Martyrs shrines have been warned to adhere to traffic rules and regulations released by the police traffic department to ease movement on Sunday, 3rd June.
As the country prepares to celebrate the Martyrs Day, several pilgrims have treked from different parts of the country, while others are still coming in. foreign pilgrims are also making way to Namugongo, for the celebrations.
This means that tens of thousands of people will be attending the Sunday events both at the Catholic and Protestant shrines. Now, in order to ease traffic movement, police under the command of SSP Norman Musinga, the commander Traffic in KMP, has issued the following guidelines;
There will be no parkng at both shrines, traffic flow on Jinja road will remain normal, VIPs with special stickers will be allowed parking adjacent to the shrines, while private vehicles like taxis and motorcycles will not be allowed beyond the inner police cut off points.
As a means to regulate traffic flow, police has designated cut off points at Nalya roudabout, Kireka Trading centre, Kireka Town council roundabout, Bweyogerere Trading centre, Seeta, and Kyaliwajala trading centres.
“All road users are advised to adhere to the above traffic flow guidelines to avoid inconveniences and whoever contravenes ith these guidelines will be dealt with in accordance with the traffic and road safety Act 1998.
