A 60 year old man is in custody at Kabarole Police station after he was arrested for conning people millions of Shillings with promises of giving them bursaries and jobs at Fins Medical University.

A 60 year old man is in custody at Kabarole Police station after he was arrested for conning people millions of Shillings with promises of giving them bursaries and jobs at Fins Medical University.

Police identifies the suspect as Moses Mpuuga, a teacher at Westville Secondary school in Fort Portal town.

According to Lydia Tumushabe, the Rwenzori Region Police Spokesperson, the suspect has been lying to his victims that he is a senior administrator at Fins Medical University and can easily connect them if they part with some cash. 

He pretended to be a one Dr. Mpuuga and is estimated to have conned more than Shillings 10 million from his between July and October this year. 

Despite several victims having implicated the suspect, he repeatedly evaded arrest until when they ambushed him at his school in Kahungabunyonyi in West division in Fort Portal on Wednesday.

"This man is very terrible. So far we have seven files of people complaining of being conned by him and he has not refused. With all this evidence, we shall take him to court direct," she said. 

The old shameless man now faces charges of receiving money by false pretense and could spend up to 12 years in jail upon conviction. 

The Proprietor Fins Medical University, Victor Kalenzi has condemned Mpuuga's actions, saying it has tainted the name of the institution.
