Dancehall musician Shafiq Jjingo, also known as Fik Gaza, gained temporary freedom after the court granted him cash bail of 1 million Ugandan shillings.
The singer, who was arrested on allegations of robbery, appeared at Makindye Magistrates Court today and was granted bail.
His sureties were also granted non-cash bail of ten million Ugandan shillings, and the singer was asked to deposit his passport with the court.
He will have to ask for the court's permission whenever he needs to go abroad.
He appeared in court together with his co-accused, including Najib Magoola, David Mutuba, also known as Marvin Gaza, and Charles Zziwa, also known as Mzungu. The group was arrested last Thursday during a police operation and detained at Katwe Police Station.
The singer, however, didn't enjoy the freedom granted to him by the Makindye Magistrates Court, as he was re-arrested on charges of aggravated robbery that reportedly happened in Wakiso district.
