Residents of Nkumba–Bukolwa Village in Katabi town council Entebbe Municipality are living in fear after police recovered a body of an unidentified man in their area.

At least 10 people have been killed in different incidents in Entebbe and its neighbouring areas in the past three months, leaving the residents scared.

According to Joseph Sekitooleko, the officer in charge of Mpala Police Station, preliminary investigations show that the deceased was beaten to death after being found stealing.

His body was found lying face on the ground this morning near a bungalow under construction next to the newly constructed Nkumba university playground. It was tied with a rope around the elbows and there were stones and iron bars next to it. It had wounds on the head.

One neighbor Kassim Mutaawe says they heard a man screaming in the wee hours of this morning but couldn’t tell where the screams were coming from.

Residents told police that there has been an escalation of thefts in Nkumba and Police acknowledges recording seven cases of vehicle thefts in the area.

Just yesterday, one man was chased and killed by boda boda riders after he was suspected of stealing a car.
