At least 2,000 police recruits have been dropped by the Police Advisory Committee (PAC) under the leadership of Martin Okoth Ochola the Inspector General of Police-IGP over forgeries and surpassing age limit.
4,500 Probation Police Constables and 500 Assistant Inspector of Police -AIP's were recruited by the Force early this month to replace more than 5,000 officers who are reported to have deserted since 2014.
According to Fred Enanga the police spokesperson, 2004 out of the 4,500 Probation Police Constables were found to be above the required age bracket of 18 to 22-years while over 200 Assistant Inspector of Police-AIP's exceeded the requirement of 25 years.
Enanga adds that 2,000 out of 5,000 Probation Police Constables and Learner Assistant Inspector of Police-AIPs were dropped, while a new recruitment drive has been scheduled to take place from August 30 to September 1 at the Criminal Investigations Directorate in Kibuli.
According to the recruitment rules, Probation Police Constables-PPCs must have a Senior Four certificate while the Assistant Inspector of Police-AIPs must possess a Diploma in science or related courses.
