NIRA Closes Wakiso offices following confirmed COVID-19 case

The National Identification Registration Authority, NIRA has temporarily closed its Wakiso District offices after one police officer attached to the facility tested positive for COVID-19.

The National Identification Registration Authority, NIRA has temporarily closed its Wakiso District offices after one police officer attached to the facility tested positive for COVID-19.

A statement released by NIRA management on Wednesday, the offices have been closed to avoid further spread of the disease and will be re-opened on Wednesday 16th September 2020. 

All services offered at the said offices including; issuance of National IDs, Issuance of birth and death certificates, fresh registration for National IDs, Replacement of lost, defaced and damaged National IDs and correction of errors are suspended.

Residents have been advised to seek services in the neighboring centres.

Uganda has confirmed 201 new COVID-19 cases from samples tested on Tuesday 8th September 2020, bringing the number of all cases to 4,101.

Uganda also has registered 46 deaths since the virus was first registered in Uganda and 1,876 recoveries.
