Ugandans should stop worshipping material things on earth, Alliance for National Transformation President Gen. Mugisha Muntu Gregg has advised.
Muntu was speaking at the prayers being held at Kibuli, for the late Dr. Anas Kaliisa the chairman Salama Charity who died last evening Kawempe, Kampala.
When called to address mourners, the former Chief of Defence Forces said earthly materials that will not be carried to heaven should not cause people problems.
“Things like houses, cars among others worldly things. While God wants us to have these nice things, he does not want them to become prisoners and worship them” Muntu said.
He noted that cars cause accidents, houses can be set ablaze and built back, yet a name and life are hard to build back.
Gen. Muntu declined to campaign at the event and said that while people may want to vote those who talk too much, you can only understand a person by their action.
He added that while his party is still young and people have not understood them, they will slowly get to know them, because they are a seed that bears sweet fruits.
He noted that if they at any moment they get ahold of the presidency, the country will reap very sweet fruits. The general noted that while everyone is campaigning, God already knows who will take power come 2021.
The National Unity Platform presidential candidate Kyagulanyi Robert on the other hand, used the even to advance his campaign and pledged allegiance to sheikh Ndilangwa of Kibuli.
He promised that in the new Uganda for which they are fighting, Muslims will be on top. He said Muslims will not be arrested and locked up because of their religious beliefs but rather respected like people from other denominations.
Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago said Uganda should practice Democracy like America, where President Trump is looking on as his opponent Joe Biden is closing in on his presidency.
He said in Uganda, presidential candidates are harassed as seen on nomination day where Patrick Amuriat was arrested and showed up without shoes, while Kyagulanyi was arrested and forced out of the car.
He asked all Kampala dwellers to vote him back as Lord Mayor.
