Government has warned some individuals who are threatening people and announcing chaos that will purportedly happen between 3rd and 7th February, to stop or face consequences.
Over the last week, some Ugandans especially those in the Diaspora have been using social media to ask members of the public not to drive cars during the above-mentioned days.
“Government has received intelligence information that there are some people are planning to cause chaos between the 3 and 7" February. These individuals are moving around spreading harmful propaganda that the country will shut down during those days” Hon Judith Nabakooba (MP) the Min for ICT and National Guidance said.
She noted that the group is intimidating taxi drivers against being on the road during those days.
Nabakooba called upon members of the public to disassociate themselves from any evil plan, insisting that the country is safe.
“The country is safe and security will work fast to arrest anyone planning to create chaos. Let us continue working together for development of our country” she noted.
Meanwhile,
Ugandans have all been advised to stay away from the courts of law limiting presence to only the immediate parties and their lawyers.
The development comes at a time when several politicians have turned to courts of law to file petitions challenging several aspects.
“We have also witnessed the overcrowding in and around the courts of law with supporters gathering to follow petitions. Communication from the Chief Justice is meant to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and strengthen the existing SOPs” Nabakooba said.
