The police are investigating cause of a fire that gutted a house of one Kenga Mohammad, leaving his wife and children severely injured.

According to Patrick Onyango the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, the incident occurred at around 4am on Monday morning in Kansanga, willing zone.

Police firefighters rushed to the scene and found when the victims had been removed from the fire. The children and their mother identified as Nakalema Jane were rushed to Nsambya hospital for medical attention.

Onyango says that the team of detectives who visited the scene established that the couple had a misunderstanding and were quarreling all night through.

Nkenga allegedly set the fire with a motive to kill his wife and two children.

“We have arrested Nkenga and he is with us at Kabalagala police station. We have opened several charges against him including arson and attempted murder. We are recording statements from witnesses” Onyango said.

He called upon couples to seek mediation in case any misunderstandings arise in their marriages and avoid extending the anger to children and properties.

The incidents comes at a time when the whole world is speaking out against Gender Based Violence and celebrations of the International Women’s Day are ongoing.
