The opposition Forum for Democratic Change, FDC National Executive Committee has decided that the party should hold grassroot elections.

This was revealed by party President Patrick Oboi Amuriat, POA during the weekly press conference at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi.

According to POA, this is intended to identify new leaders for village elections. The elections are slated to take place beginning 1st August 2021 starting with the Northern region.
After Northern Uganda, they will move to the Eastern Region, then Western Region and finishing in Central Region.

“The intention of this exercise is for us to identify leaders who have been keeping with our methods of work. We recognize the fact that we are a party of activists that believe in defiance. We will be re-engineering our party in order to have leaders who can be called upon not only to provide leadership in elections and giving general direction to members but also those who will be prepared to carryout necessary actions against the dictatorship” POA said.

He added that the exercise will culminate into elections of the National Leadership which will take place in July 2023. “We are hopeful that during that same period if the dictator is still around and organizing elections, we will be selecting our flag bearers for the various positions.”
