The Police in Kabale have in custody two suspects as they hunt for several others who are part of the racket that has been terrorizing areas of Kigezi, stealing motor vehicle number plates.
Elly Maate the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson identifies the duo as Christmas Dominic commonly known as Chris 27 years B/man dealing in motor vehicles and resident of Bugarama village Buhara parish/ sub county Kabale district and Arnold Kwasiima 30 years a driver and resident of Mparo village Nyarurambi parish Rwamucucu sub county Rukiga district.
The suspects were arrested on 24/05/2021 after being tracked by security operatives when they stole number plates from about fifteen vehicles from areas of Kabahangara cell Karubanda ward Southern division Kabale municipality, Rubaya and Butanda sub counties in Kabale district in the night of between 22nd and 23rd/05/2021 respectively.
Upon arrest, a search was conducted and double number plates for eight vehicles were recovered and exhibited.
Operation to arrest their associates is being done.
Maate urged all people who may have lost their number plates, to report to Kabale and produce such evidence that will help in pinning them so that they are dealt with accordingly.
