Grief has struck the family of Gen. Katumba Wamala after unidentified gunmen shot dead his daughter and bodyguard while making an attempt on his life.
The gunmen intercepted former Works Minister in his vehicle registration number H4DF 2138 along Kisaasi-Kisota road and sprayed it with bullets.
According to eyewitnesses, Katumba’s daughter identified as Brenda Wamala Nantongo and his driver, Haruna Kayondo died on the spot while the General escaped with gunshot wounds in the chest.
The bodies are still in the vehicle that is still at the crime scene.
Katumba was rushed to Malcolm Clinic in Kisaasi where he is receiving treatment before being rushed Medipal hospital, Kololo. The CDF and detectives have cordoned off the scene to search for any clues on the attack.
General Katumba is not the first high profile Ugandan official to be attacked by armed gunmen riding on motorcycles.
