The police in Lamwo have arrested four men for allegedly taking part in the murder of a 37 year –old suspect on Tuesday night.
David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson identified the suspects as Walter Mwaka, Charles Omal, Richard Kidega and Alex Oweka, all residents of Lagwe -dola Village in Kal Sub –County in Lamwo district.
It is alleged that the suspects took part in the lynching of Martin Nokrach who was suspected of stealing a solar panel belonging to Walter Mwaka. A one Komakech, an eye witness told police that the suspects arrested Nokrach and took him to Lagwe –dola Village where they assaulted him to death.
According to Mudong, the homicide team visited the scene of crime and recorded statements before arresting the suspects who are currently in custody at Lamwo Central Police Station. Ongom also revealed that the deceased’s body is lying at Palabek Kal Health Center III pending postmortem.
The four suspects have been charged with murder under Lamwo 196/2021, which is contrary to section 188 and 189 of the Penal Code Act. Anybody found guilty of murder is liable to suffer death up conviction.
